Null Hypothesis

Foundation

We don't have enough money to be evil.

[ABOUT.md]

Trying to break out of developer middle class hell.

We build SaaS and security tools. Some of them use AI. Some of them don't. You can tell which is which, and honestly, that's the most transparent thing a software company has said this year.

In statistics h₀ (the null hypothesis) assumes nothing works until proven otherwise. We liked that. h₀ is also what happens when developers get tired of building other people's products and decide to build their own. The pay is worse. The hours are longer. The codebase is ours and it's still somehow somebody else's fault when it breaks.

We're not an AI company. We're a DevOps company that uses AI the way normal people use it: reluctantly, selectively, and with the quiet understanding that half the output needs to be rewritten anyway.

Our exit strategy is 'maybe one of these will work.'

Active Deployments

NETGHOST

[SHIPPED]

Network privacy toolkit for people who read packet headers recreationally. 30+ tools for discovering everything your ISP hoped you'd never notice. Runs entirely local — we trust our own servers even less than yours. Not AI. Just software. You can tell.

netghost.app

GREYLINE

[SHIPPED]

Offline travel planner for people whose packing list includes 'burner phone.' Encrypted document vault, EXIF stripping, surveillance detection routes, and 250+ country profiles sourced from places we're not allowed to name. Runs on localhost only — your itinerary never leaves your machine, which is more than your airline can say. Open source, because we trust you more than we trust ourselves.

STATMAC

[SHIPPED]

Cybersecurity CLI dashboard for macOS. 12 subcommands, 7 color themes, real-time packet inspection, and a security audit that gives you a grade you didn't ask for. Built in Rust because we have trust issues with garbage collectors. Runs in your terminal — where all the best decisions are made.

NIRU

[IN DEV]

On-device audio vault that transcribes your meetings, identifies who said what, and extracts action items nobody will follow up on. This one uses AI. You can also tell. Currently being built in public, which means it's being built in private but we talk about it.

████

[CLOSED]

██████████ social ████████ platform. The technology worked. The users didn't. Turns out people are a fundamentally unscalable dependency. All metrics have been classified. The domain has been burned. We will never attempt community again.

Operating Principles

01

Privacy by paranoia

We don't collect your data. Not because we're ethical — we just don't want the liability. Every tool runs local. Your packets, your problems.

02

Ship it, then read the error logs

Perfect is the enemy of deployed. We believe in learning from production, mostly because staging never works anyway. Also we can't afford staging.

03

AI is a tool, not a personality

We use it where it helps. We don't use it where it doesn't. We will never describe ourselves as 'AI-native' or 'AI-first.' We are 'AI-sometimes.' The rest is just code we wrote ourselves, like animals.

04

Revenue would be nice

We're an independent shop trying to make products people actually pay for. No VC runway. No pivot-to-enterprise. Just shipping software and hoping the math works out before the savings don't.

[CAREERS.md]

Work with us

We're hiring engineers who are comfortable deploying on Fridays, defining 'done' loosely, and explaining to their parents what a 'foundation' does.

Perks & benefits

  • Unlimited PTO (we don't track it because the tracker broke)
  • Remote-first (the office is a Notion doc)
  • Equity (in a foundation, so technically worthless)
  • The authentic startup experience (real risk, real product, real ramen)
[SUBMIT YOUR RESUME TO THE VOID]

By applying you acknowledge that your CI/CD pipeline will be judged silently. Rejection emails are automated. Acceptance emails are also automated. We have not checked which one you'll get.
